About 250,000 men are diagnosed yearly with prostate cancer. Currently you can do a PSA blood test to screen for prostate cancer. The prostate is a very small sexual gland. It sits just below the bladder in men, and it produces semen. It's job is to basically produce a fluid that keeps sperm alive while that sperm is trying to go and find an egg. Without a prostate you cannot effectively reproduce by natural techniques. The tube that you use to urinate and ejaculate runs right through the middle of the prostate.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH is a non-cancerous condition whereby the prostate gland enlarges with advancing age. It is estimated that 25% of men in their fifties and more than 50% of men in their sixties will be troubled to some degree by BPH. Effective medication is available to shrink the size of the prostate and relieve the symptoms.
Alpha blockers (such as Cardura) work by relaxing the muscles at the neck of the bladder, making urination much easier. A herbal remedy called saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) has been widely tested and the provisional results have been really good. It is thought to work by preventing testosterone from breaking down into another form of te hormone associated with prostate tissue growth.
With metastatic prostate cancer, your testosterone count will be brought to as close as 0 as possible; testosterone is the fuel for prostate cancer to grow. You can suppress and halt its growth significantly.
